The State of the Events Industry…2023 Edition…

Almost three years ago to the day many of us went to work for the very last time — unknowing what lay ahead and the impact that a global pandemic would have on the event industry.

Personally, I remember being on a New York Subway platform and hearing the public address system reminding everyone to wash their hands — it felt weird.

At first, it felt like something that would quickly pass. Events and activations would quickly resume just punted down the line a little bit. However, as you know the Spring of 2020 turned to the Fall of 2020 and so on…and events, as we knew them, were forever changed.

2023 State of Events Industry Survey by Institute of Virtual

Amidst many questions we were getting at Production Solved — we realized there was huge thirst in the industry to learn and understand what could be done in terms of virtual event production outside of just having another Zoom.

It was those conversations — and learnings that we were doing ourselves and sharing with folks in the industry that spurred us to launch the Institute of Virtual.

Since that time, as an industry, we’ve all helped shape the events industry’s next chapter. We’ve navigated virtual events, worked together to return to IRL events and we’re in the midst of defining a new generation of hybrid events.

The event landscape of 2023 has evolved and changed as technology has become more core to the experience and marketing. Event professionals now have to develop an event strategy that makes sense for each organization taking into account virtual, IRL, and hybrid options.

So, with that in mind, we are happy to launch what we hope will become an annual survey to provide everyone in the industry a read on the State of Events…we want your opinion so click here to share your thoughts (it’ll only take about 3–4 minutes) and be entered to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
